Hi all hope you are all enjoying the weather. Over the past 3 years we have paid the IBO tax & IBI (Non resident Tax) through our solicitor. His local office has since closed. I know I can pop into the town hall at Vera to pay the IBO tax, can i also pay the non resident tax. We do not rent our apartment out. Or do I go to another local solicitor to do this on our behalf. Thanks very much for any advice offered. Brian

You should be able to set up a direct debit for both and save yourself solicitors fees.

Thanks very much that's what I am hoping to do.

Hi, I don’t know what IBO is, but IBI is the equivalent to council tax in the UK. It’s paid by residents and non residents. Non resident tax is something separate. As suggested you can arrange for bills to be paid by direct debit through your town hall.

That's great I will be popping into the town hall when we come over in Oct. Thanks very much for your response.

You may know this already but just in case you do not. If you are a non resident you have to complete a tax form each year for your Non Resident Tax on the Modelo Form 210. This is nothing to do with the IBI tax. After submitting the tax form to the Tax Office in Madrid they will send you a validation reference number, which you must quote when making the payment to the Madrid Tax Office

If it's your non-resident tax, you are better using a British firm called Spanish Tax Forms.  You can find them via an internet search.  I was paying my solicitor over 200€ per year to sort it out.  This firm completed the L210 form for around £37 and will pay the tax on your behalf for a further £15.

OMG. €200/yr is insane. Absolute rip-off. My local Gestor charged €100 which I already find way to much. My tax was €105 and fee €100. Crazy. I can calculate it myself but wonder how I can get my hands on the form. Does the form need to be sent to Madrid? Can’t be done at my local council?
