I think you will have to speak to DEFRA   In the uk thing may change at the end of December ( that is if you are planning staying over here for a long period

If you are moving here permanently with your dog go to the vets and they will sort everything that you will need, pet passport blood tests etc

We have travelled back and forth to Spain normally by car via the tunnel (and more recently by private jet Spain to UK).

If you are travelling to Spain before 31st December 2020 the process is very simple. Microchip, up to date rabies injection and passport. See link below.

https://www.gov.uk/take-pet-abroad/pet-passport

Procedure after 1st January will be clearer once Brexit has been agreed.

The only thing that will change is that after Dec your pet will need a fit to travel certificate ,more money!     You are relocating in October ,you just go to the vet, they will make sure all the jabs are up to date, you will need the Rabies jab,as we don’t have rabies  in U.K.  BUT, You MUST get to the vet quickly as, you Need the TITRE test done to make sure your dog is fully protected against rabies. A month after the test they will take blood to make sure your dog has developed enough antibodies against the disease. If you don’t go now,and the titre fails you need another month till it does work!         I hope this helps.

Hi

The last post was wrong. If your travelling out in Oct 20 you only need the current uk pet passport, this will give you a return to UK even after Dec 31 20. Post Dec entry to EU will possibly require the rabies proof as stated, but this is a current assumption final aggreement with EU may differ.

Forgot to say, we travel to Spain twice a year, use ferry to Spain, 1 overnight on ferry and then one on route in Spain, usually 3.5 hrs in, just south of Burgos , J99 on motorway, dog friendly hotel, good local walks, then a 6hr drive following day to Huercal Overa.

Planning to travel out early September. May switch to Spanish issued EU pet passport whilst in Spain, as much cheaper to use spanish vet.

Hi

Reference rabies blood test this is not required for travel to EU prior to Jan 21, and UK only require current pet passport for return after Dec 20. If you take out a Spanish pet passport this will then suffice for all travel in the future. The cost of the Spanish passport would br less that what you paid for the blood tests, spanish vets are less than 50% of the cost in UK. We pay 15E for our fitness to travel inspection including all entries in passport, charge in northern france 40E

Do you have any recomendations for overnight stop in Spain

James
