Following our first electricity bill in our new house (we are not new to Spain), we have been charged €45+ under RDL10/22, which, I understand, affects all new variable rate contracts.  I've been looking at different electricity companies and the usual comparison sites but I can't seem to find out how much RDL10/22 is calculated.  Some advertised rates include it in the tariff, whilst others say it will just "be added on to each bill", amount unknown.

Does anyone know if it is calculated as a percentage of consumption or is it just calculated as a daily fluctuating rate based on the commercial cost of electricity on the open market?

It's really confusing trying to work out the best company to go with.

Any knowledgeable replies would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I am due to spend 3 month in Spain from next year. We have rented a 3 bed property . Apart from the rental we also have to pay utility bills. As  prices are still increasing I was wondering how much these will be roughly. Could anyone let me know the average cost of these bills as the company I am renting off don’t know. But based on last year they reckoned on 180 euros for gas/electric, water, waste and internet. Since the price rise I am sure it has increased a considerable amount.

I don't think it's that simple.  It depends on the tariff your landlord has with the electric company, which can vary quite considerably. Also, if on the normal 3 period tariff, it depends what time of day/night you use electricity. My rentals are all on the same price 24 hours a day.  Other tariffs have 8 cheap hours per day.  Also, new/renewed contracts since April now attract the RDL10 levy which adds a considerable amount to the bill.  My advice would be to find out, in advance, from the landlord what the tariff is to ensure you don't overuse during the expensive periods (see attached diagram).

Cost of water is on a sliding scale.  The more you use, the higher to charge per m³.

I don't know about the price of gas as I am on bottled gas.

So you can see, it is very difficult to compare same size properties with so many factors involved.

Basura (rubbish) is €39ish every 3 months.

I 'd say internet is on average about €30 per month.
