Updating Recidencia

Just changed from Green Residencia card to TIE - cost us 130€ per person.  Between 110€ and 130€ is about right; 200€ each is really very expensive ... you doing it through a lawyer perchance?

No legal requirement to change to TIE from residency card so unsure why you would want to waste your money whether 200 euros or 12 euros.

A variety of reasons, not the least of which is the TIE is more durable and is an ID card so no need to carry passport around to validate the green card.

Plus, should you leave the country, I’ll give a cast-iron guarantee that crossing back into Spain will be less fraught than if you have the still-valid green Residencia card.  Still wayyyyyyy too many oficiales and funcionarios believe that for a UK citizen they are invalid after 31/12.  The message from government just doesn’t seem to have filtered down to all branches .....

So, personal preference.

If your c!.,.y  green residentia card looked liked mine after but one year then a change needed.

Starting to get trouble with anyone needing info off of it... 

if unreadable, you ain't getting anything or going anywhere.

It cost us €12 each. It's easy, no translator or Gestor required if it's a straight exchange of green residency slip for TIE.

If you get your TIE before 31/12 then it is endorsed that it is issued in accoordance with 18.4 of the Withdrawal Agreement, so safeguarding your rights.  The only real difference is that it falls into line with the Spanish DNI card in terms of validity; a permanent residents card is valid for 10 years, if you have been here less than 5 years, it's valid for 5.  You just then need to renew.
