We stayed at Valle del Este in November 2019 whilst checking out the area. It's only about 20 minutes from Mojácar and Garrucha by car. We hired a car from Sol Car Rentals which is based at Valle del Este and they also picked us up and dropped us off at the airport (Almeria) for a very reasonable price. We are booked in again in December to continue our search. Good luck.

Agree that Valle Del Este looks a good base and are currently offering some very reasonable half board deals.
