We very much enjoyed a beach holiday in Vera several years ago.  Every thing was fine, hotel, amenities and atmosphere suited us ideally and post Covid we are now considering a further holiday this autumn.  Only one thing, the pebble ridge at the beach edge, which makes it difficult for my wife and I at our age to enter and leave the water, is deterring us from repeating our stay.   Would it be possible for you to tell us if this ridge is a permanent feature of the beach or is it something that comes and goes?

hi. I presume you are talking about Vera Playa. In my experience of many years at Vera Playa is that the 'pebble ridge' just below the high water line is there pretty much all the time. However, it does depend on the prevailing weather conditions - it can be ok but it can be bad. Right now ( as of last week ) there is a considerable step down from the actual beach to the waterline which would probably prove to be an even more greater obstacle.

I see folk regularly struggling to get out of the water ( me too sometimes! I will not disclose my age because my brain thinks my body is lying ! ) but invariably they don't help themselves.

Advice; wear some swim shoes. They don't look great and personally I can't be doing with them but if they get you in the water and out again safely then wear them. Leave the vanity behind you. If it really IS too difficult to walk out of the water , sit down and shuffle out backwards until you get across the 'pebbles'

I'm sure you'll find a way.
