Hello all, I'm asking for any personal recommendations (or otherwise) of asisa medical insurance, given that I'm living in the Vera/Garrucha area. Looking through the list of medical centres, it seems there is an English speaking doctor in Garrucha so that's good, but for a major hospital it seems as though almeria is closest.

What medical centres would people recommend, so I could check whether they are on the list for this insurer please? As a newcomer to the area I'm finding it a bit difficult to work out what's where and which clinics it would be good to have my insurance accepted with.

thanks so much for any information, it is really appreciated

Beannie

there is a lady doctor in Garrucha medical centre that speaks english the centre is on the main street past the school at the far end which leads to the Lidl supermarket roundabouts.  the nearest main hospital in this area is in Huercal Overa.  there is a private doctor in Parque commercial that is used by some insurance companies.

As far as I am aware, with private health, you cannot go to HO hospital - the hospital for private health is in Almería

I don't know whether you can get private treatment at the health centre either.  The doctor you mean is Maria Jose Gomez she is the only one at the health centre who speaks English.  I have a feeling you may have to go either  to Mojacar or  to the private clinic in Vera not far from the Vera health centre,  cant remember what it is called but it is on the corner and has alot of writing across the top saying what they treat.  Good luck. As Dario says Almeria is the nearest place for private hospitals and there are more than one.

Hi

We are with Asisa. We use Euroclinic in Vera town beside an estate agent. I think it's called DRV ( estate agent). While they cover most things there, we have been sent to Huercal Overa as, well to a private clinic there for a ultra sound. All covered by our insurance. In the one in Vera they deal with gynecology, medical, foot doctor, nurses, dietician and lots of others. All the doctors there have some English. The reception usually does too.

That's good to know even though i dont have private health insurance a one off visit  to get a general check up would be worth paying for. I think the place you mentioned is the same place i was referring to.

You can go there and pay for it. I know they don't accept E11 health card. As U have seen people paying for it.
