If your husband is working and you are a pensioner? You should go to the social security office in huercal overa and apply for a social security card, presumably you have a DNI (NIE) number?  Or if you have a European health card you should go to the health centre in Vera and sign up.  However get a translator or go to a gestoria if you don't speak sufficient Spanish. And get professional advice. Hope this helps.

I hope your NIE comes soon then, you have obviously sought professional advice.  So they should guide you through the social security jargon. Good luck.

Hi,

Have you spoken to DWP International in Newcastle upon Tyne. On www Google Search.

When I first moved out here in 2003 I was on Disability Allowance, ex-Forces. Thus, with my Residencia, I was eligible to obtain the forms from DWP & sign on for Spanish Healthcare. Then my wife was automatically entitled as well.

The entire process was labyrinthine and frustrating. Now I would use CAT SERVICES in La Alfoquia or GL EXPAT SERVICES in Turre. Both on Google Search. Sure there is a fee but it minimises frustration & they provide the Interpretor.

Best Wishes,

Dr. Bob and Sandra
