I rent and live at VdE full time. Weather during October - April can be Cold, but not bitter - it is quite varied. Jan 1, 2018 saw me sitting on the deck outside in shorts and shirtless!! Coming from the UK, you’ll find winters here relatively mild.
The Centro Comercial is small, but is growing. Hola Fibra have a sales point there and supply whole if VdE with a good Fibre Optic internet service (I pay 30€ for 100MBPs synchronous). There is a small Coviran supermarket there, and English sports bar that screens all football matches etc if your into that, an amazing seafood restaurant and a Thai restaurant. South East Telecoms also has a presence there and supplies English IPTV boxes (again, if you are so minded)
The entire complex is maintained year round and fees cover the cost of cutting the grass in your garden (if you have a ground floor or duplex) and maintenance of rest of complex. We haven’t found the fees that high and the rent is very reasonably priced.
It certainly quietens down after September, but it doesn’t die as people are coming here for Christmas etc.
The hotel does an amazing breakfast and dinner at reduced rates for residents of VdE complex and the Spa in the hotel is very reasonably priced - and is magical in Winter!
Also living here, the Shell garage at the 529 exit gives you discount on petrol. I drive a diesel and so enjoy 6c a litre discount merely for living at VdE. We’ve lived here permanently since September 2017 and now regard July / August as “too busy” and actually look forward to the non-tourist months ... I love it here at VdE and would not wish to give it up. I have a view of the Mediterranean from my bedroom and palm trees and greenery everywhere I look. Every single day here really is like being on holiday. Even off peak
