Hi, does anyone know where I can buy sourdough bread locally please. Also, cam anyone tell me what the correct Spanish word for sourdough is as I’ve had a couple of suggestions come up, thanks.

Thanks Alicia, yes, I’d suggest the Belgian bakery at Las Buganvillas as well.

I’m not too familiar with baking terms, but I’d say pan de masa fermentada or probably more commonly pan de masa madre

Don't suppose you could try and make it yourself?

It was all the rage during the Pandemic, so there are probably hundreds of ideas and suggestions for making it.

The starter is the key.

TBH ever since I left NY I have yet to taste a good one other than I ones I made myself

Thank you both, I have tried there earlier in the year but will try again, any excuse to go there for an eclair 😋😋

I don’t have a bread making machine or any sourdough starter here.

I think the local bakeries are missing a trick, it’s supposed to be the best bread for digestion.

I’m fairly certain I saw a pan de Masa Madre in Mercadona recently; may be also worth trying bakery sections at Mercadona, Lidl and the Consum here in Vera Playa

We have bought masa madre bread in both Lidl and consum. You have to look on the label or ask a member of staff as identification is not promine

When we were in Mojacar in March, we quite by chance came across a tiny bread shop.  Lovely selection of different types of bread.  The shop is across the road from where Mojacar Home Improvements used to be, next door but one to One Stop Shop.  Not sure if they sell sourdough but it might be worth a try, when you are in that direction.

For sour dough you don’t need a bread maker, just a bowl and a form to bake your bread. I used to make my sourdough bread years ago. Once you have the big it’s easy. Google it

Was that listed as an ingredient or the actual name of the loaf?
