Hi everyone.

I live in uk, but have an apartment in am andalus thallasos in vera playa. I have not been over due to covid for over a year.

My son who lives in southern ireland would like to go over and check on the apartment, is this allowed under Spanish covid rules. As he lives in Ireland which has a low infection rate.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Your son lives in Ireland and amongst the restrictions is travel is limited to within 5 kms of home (except in exceptional circumstances). External Travel is prohibited except in exceptional circumstances. A holiday or just a visit to Spain is not considered exceptional and fines in RoI have been increased to €4K (from €100*) per individual leaving or entering the country flouting restrictions.

The situation was highlighted a couple of weeks ago when 5000* Irish people returned from holiday in the Canary Islands in one week alone. The Gardaí (Irish Police) are now questioning people at Departure Gates in airports and ports and most travellers turn back thereby forfeiting airfares etc. The policing situation in RoI is getting tougher by the day.

*Some of them had emails from dentists in Canary Is. confirming appointments which were never going to be used.

*Most of these travelling cretins had factored in the cost of the fine in the cost of the holiday (Ryanair flights were selling @ €19.99 per trip.

Hi Angela

As an Irish person, I can assure you that the infection rate is not low at the moment in Ireland. It's going down slowly but that's all. That's why it's in Lockdown seven most schools are shut and will probably remain in Lockdown till May. So it is not a good suggestion that anyone comes over here.

I understand your worry about the apartment but I am sure it's fine. Are there any neighbours or friends over here that can check on it or perhaps  a caretaker in the Urbanization?

Even if you know someone who lives in another village. Most of them have opened up now and Vera might open up next Friday. So if it does, people can travel to other towns. Hope you get sorted.
