Hello There,

I have a two bed apartment in Vera Playa, and wondered if anyone could recommend a good holiday letting management company in the area. Or any advice you have

Many thanks

Nicky

For our Palomares property we have just signed up with D&D (Dean & Donna) who are based in Mojacar Playa but cover further up the coast as well, including Vera Playa. Their website is at https://www.ddpropertycarealmeria.com/

I can also heartily recommend AM3 in Vera.  Ask for Valerie, who is fully tri-lingual (English / French / Spanish) or Fidel, who is Fluent English / Spanish

Fabulous bunch of people, extremely helpful and I know Valerie would go to the ends of the earth for her clients

Saludos, Darío

Another one that seems to get good reviews is Blue Sea Villas - http://blueseavillas.co.uk/

Have spent the last week travelling around the Mojacar, Vera, Huercal Overa, Villarocas district to check out area and look over some properties.  I love the Cabuzana area near Vera and so do our friends, we saw a few properties in there. However we are getting conflicting info from locals and agents. Locals are saying put in a silly offer as property market has gone quiet, whereas agents are saying property is going up quicker than ever!  With all the horror stories about property and Spain any input would be gratefully received.  Regards Tania

Back in UK now and the sun is shinning for a change.

Property prices are now going up but don't forget it's in the agents' interest to claim the market is rising quickly to generate quicker/higher offers as a higher selling price will give them more income. We put in a low offer for a property last November (25% below the asking price) and it was accepted. If the seller really wants/needs to sell they might just accept. So if there is a property you really like and want, put in a low offer and see what happens. You can always go up from there if you wish to, whereas if you put in a high offer to start with you've nowhere to go - you can't then offer less!

There is no reason for there to be a horror story about buying property in Spain. Just make sure that to start with you trust your estate agent - some in the area left me thinking they were wide boys and in one case a well-known company left us very very cross with what we considered unethical behaviour.  Most of all you need to have a good solicitor that you trust to do all the legwork for you: get NIE numbers sorted, bank accounts open, utilities connected etc and will give you clear information about the process and progress. There are some very good solicitors out there; for 2 purchases now we've used Maria at Mundi Abogados on the Las Buganvillas roundabout between Garrucha and Vera and been very happy with the service, and the thank you cards in their window grow by the month. We've also used Mundi Abogados to obtain a rental licence, for wills etc. And Maria was recommended by our excellent estate agent, Paul Fullard at Next Stop Almeria (sorry Bob)!! But there are other good ones, and Bob and others on the forum will have their recommendations too.
