We are an English couple who have lived and worked in France for 14 years where we are legally resident and currently hold "Titre de Sejour" (residency permits) valid for 10 years. Our plan is to retire after the coming season, sell our villa here in France and move permanently to Spain. We are looking for recommendations on who to contact to give us advice on a permanent relocation to Spain. TIA

Thanks for responding. No we have kept our UK citizenship but believe we'll be OK with our French residency cards. Hoping so. Cheers

Dario and Mathew  for sound advice . Jenni for the truth . Joking aside I wish you all the best . The area is great with fabulous weather for most of the year and lots to do if you want it . Nice bars , restaurants, live music gigs or village life . It’s got the lot . And if you want mega it’s only 3 hours to Benidorm . Wish I had the the funds and bottle to do it years ago . Good luck

I am in same position as yourselves. I lived 20 years in greece and held permanent residency.  It means nothing as it's EU citizenship that entitles freedom of movement and obviously if you are British passport holders you don't have it.  You must apply for a visa at the Spanish embassy in the country where you have been resident for the last 5 years.  If you want a non lucrative visa you must meet all the requirements which includes a police report, medical report, proof of funds etc.  All documentation must be officially translated into Spanish.

If you come and try to get residency by providing your French residency documents it will be refused and you will be required to return to France after 90 days and start the process there.
