Hi all
Wonder if anyone can help with questions
want to apply for residency but been told need private health car.
No one will give us this as have health issues
Husband has pip and been told we should be able to get a s1 to cover us with Spanish health system.
will this be enough to apply for residenca or do will still need private health care on top?

Hi Lisa
If you are of retirement age and therefore eligible for an S1 certificate that is all that is required for you to gain Residency in Spain.
I'm going to qualify the above by saying that, at the moment, it's understood that the SI form will be no longer valid after 31 Dec 2020 as the Transition period for the UK leaving the EU will end.

I did a bit of googling for you and found this link on the gov.uk living in spain Pages. I suggest you check with them whether your specific benefits are exportable, and whether that means you will qualify for s1 form. S1 form is available if you are claiming a state pension or ‘certain exportable benefits’ , I’m sure if you ask them they will tell you what is available in your own specific circumstances.

Spoke to pip yesterday, They no longer supply S1 forms. You have to contact DWP at Newcastle. Also it’s only part of pip that is transportable. The mobility part is not 🙁🙁🙁
