Hi, I move to Vera, from Slovakia hoping to find a job. I like to know how and where I can obtain NIE, and what do I need to provide.

And is anyone know about any job, at the moment I don’t speak Spanish but I’m learning

Thank you for any information relating my message

Hiya Nish, you can get the NIE yourself, but if you don’t have a good grasp of Spanish, you’ll be better off retaining a gestor/a to assist you - plenty around that specialize in this.  A gestor should charge around 70€ - 100€ to get you NIE and green residencia card.

To get your residencia, you will need a Certificado de Empadronamiento and proof of access to about 8.000€ - this is a once-off requirement and can be proven by certificate from your bank.

Work: without at least conversational Spanish you’ll be hard pressed to find contracted employment, HOWEVER we are heading towards summer season and if you are prepared to do bar / wait work you might be able to pick up seasonal work as wait or bar staff in one of the many restaurants in the tourist areas such as Mojácar Playa where lack of Spanish shouldn’t be such a hindrance.

Here some short and sweet answers to you. We are an experienced German couple living as non residents in Spain, on and off, with a house on Mojacar Beach since 35 years. So here goes. If you want to live and work in Spain drop all other priorities and pump English and Spanish into your heart on a daily basis and at least 3 x 4hrs each day reading both languages separately but sitting on the beaches  or in your room READING LAUDLY, once you have taken a first course in both languages in order to get the hang of the intonations as well as the pronounciation and the Vowels properly. No language means no happyness. If you cannot or dont want to take this challenge then better stay in your home land. Be careful of the quality of the people you become friendly with.

Look for a cheap flat BUT ONLY IN 04638 MOJACAR, on or near the Playa. This is your best bet in many aspects.

If you have the finances then it would be advisable to buy your own house or a flat instead of having to pay rent.

If you are a christian convert take up contact with us urgently.

If you are looking for a partner or husband be VERY CAREFUL.

If you take up a job INSIST on a clear cut Contract in writing with all details clearly registered.

If you need good legal and admininistrative advice then go to Lucas Mayo, an English/Spaniard who is well know and beloved on Mojacar Playa, opposite Fereteria LOPES near DIA-Supermarket on the Mojacar Playa and he will do everything (even NIE-Number application) for you at a very reasonable cost. YOU DONT NEED A LAWYER NOR A TAX-ADVISOR. Lucas is well versed in all matters. Look him up on the Internet under his name and Office name "GECKO" in Mojacar-Playa.  His daughter there is VERY helpful as well and Lucas also has a Lady (spanish) Accountant who could deal with your official finance matters if need be.

Send me an email if you need more advice, my wife and I return to Mojacar from Germany in about a months time.

It was pretty quick, couple of weeks at most. Can't remember how much it cost, but it wasn't much.

You dont really need a Soliciter. But if you have that much  "dough" then its yours to spend as you like to.
