Duty & IVA on personal imports

Anybody else noted that when checking prices of products on eBay UK for delivery to Spain, an item valued at £10 can have a postage charge of £30-£50, whereas the exact same item and value coming from Switzerland (EEA member) or Australia or China (not EU or EEA) incur a delivery charge of just a few Euros. So either Spanish Customs are being vindictive or suppliers from UK are covering the worst possible scenarios of import duty + IVA + customs clearance charges...
