I am thinking of returning some pieces of personal furniture back to the UK. They were bought in the UK and VAT paid on them.
Does anyone know if customs duty would be payable?
The short answer is yes. you need a number obtained in advance from UK customs and Excise, and then you have to list every single item and their worth you are bring back, (its a right pain), and when you get to Uk customs you should sail thru, If you dont do this you will be charged import due. If you go on the Gov.uk web site it tells you in detail.
