Is it very complicated to re-register a uk car to Spanish number plates and Spanish insurance?

I looked into doing it with my wifes SQ5. It was going to cost a lot of money, a load of hassle and you are still stuck with the inconvenience of RHD.
I bought a nice Spanish registered 2016 2008 Peugeot to leave in Spain and took a long term parking contract at Almeria airport.

It depends on the car; it *can* be expensive and not worth it, but it really does depend on age and type of car - as well as value as you may be required to pay import tax (around 31% if I recall correctly)
If your headlights are the type that switch over with a lever, then it is a lot cheaper, if however headlight units need to be replaced, it can get expensive.
Yes, second hand cars are a lot more expensive here, but again, depending on what you have now, it may be cheaper in the long run.

Ours was very simple pre brexit. Ask Michael at Tallo Daydo Antas for quote. He is really helpful and speaks English.

Morning. Well I have read your topic on this and I totally disagree. First of all… I had Range Rover 4000lt SE (I have been driving these vehicles since 1984) so when I went to the garage to find out they told me
Do yourself a favour and take back to England and return with a more economic car to maltriculate. So I returned with a Peugeot 308CC. Cabriolet Diesel 2000lt Tubo.
It cost me about £500 (the headlights were £400 from England. I am a Resendency here in Spain since 2017. Now driving here on the Spanish roads in a RHD car has more advantages because you can see the edge of the road. All these Spanish drivers seem to Hang Out in the middle of the road.
You have more control in driving.
I am a Class 1 Driver in England so driving is been part of my life.
There is a haulage company in Italy that have all the trucks ordered for RHD due to the driving on the mountain roads with more control. Many thanks. T

To disagree is fine. But give the list price £62000 and current value about £35,000 of an Audi SQ5, it was going to cost a fortune. Id have loved to have brought it out, but not to spend silly money doing it. Why bring a cheap car out? Your just asking for trouble with age related breakdown s etc. IMHO buying a Spanish car made much more sense

Don’t forget you end up with a RHD, tolls are a pain unless you have arms like an
orangutan 🤔 and what about when you need to sell to upgrade…..limited market ….
