I don't know what Stu's beef is, but he asked a question and I gave him an accurate one word answer.
We are going through horrid times and there's lots of misinformation available and for some reason unknown to me people tend to listen to misinformation more than good information. Perhaps it's peer pressure? I could say worse, but I am being kind.
Face Masks (the facts):-
1. The Irish Medical Advisors informed that the ordinary face mask is as near to useless as makes no difference regarding Covid-19. If you are infected, it can prevent the wearer from infecting others in the first 12 minutes of it being worn. After 12 minutes, it's useless.
2. Face masks need continuous adjusting. This leads the untrained person to touch his/her face more and this certainly leads to more infection.
3. Donald Trump, that purveyor of the truth, the guy who sent the Covid-19 rescue ships in the wrong direction from the start advised the people of New York to wear face masks and refused to wear one himself.
4. For years (not just during Covid-19) our television screens show a majority of Chinese people wearing face masks. Newsflash - Smog is so prevalent in China, most people have been wearing face masks there for years.
5. We see people working in hospitals wearing face masks. Nurses, doctors, Care Assistants, porters, attendants have always worn face masks because of the potential risk of infection.
6. Hospital staff caring for Covid-19 patients wear reinforced masks + other protection clothing. You don't see them wearing paper masks.
7. So, you want to wear a face mask anyway. They can be a fashion accessory. You feel better wearing one. You want to be sure to be sure. You clear the local pharmacy of its supply. Consequently, bona fide care workers (who do not work in hospitals) cannot purchase face masks. They're out of stock. And who caused the shortage of such essential care worker items? Look in the mirror and you'll find the answer.
So, Stu, I hope this is informative for you. I wish you and yours well through these tragic times.
