Hiya all

Is there anymore local information on the proposed high speed train service from Almeria to Murcia?

I know that it has been discussed for a decade but I thought that there were some discussions and movement last year.

Also do you know whereabouts the Vera station is planned for and whether the service will run from the airports in Almeria or Murcia International?

I appreciate that we are still probably years away but I am in lockdown in UK and just interested. 🙂

The Spanish Govt have allocated approx Euros 600 million in the 2021 budget to be spent on this railway line in Almeria.

From what I have read, they have recently done a lot of work in Almeria city and they have built a tunnel in Murcia city for it. All of the route had been planned and agreed except the section the went through Lorca and they finally agreed that last week. They are going to build an approx 3km tunnel to resolve some of the problems that they had there.

The location of the Vera-Almanzora station will be close the Repsol garage on the A352 between Vera town and the Las Buganvillas roundabout. They don't expect the line to be open until 2026.

The route does not go to Murcia airport but it goes very close to Almeria airport but I don't think there will be a station there. The only stations between Almeria and Murcia appear to be Vera and Lorca.

I had no idea the Vera station would be situated where you described, I expect this will be beneficial for the area when it finally happens. We can only wait to see.
