Hi all been looking at a device called tv fix.  Anyone looked at this.  It plugs into the back of tv and apparently will pick up UK tv. No internet needed.   Can anyone tell me if they tried it.

I .... would be dubious .... to say the least; but I am by no means an electronics expert.  I would be keen to see how ultra high frequency signals transmitted some 1600 km away can be received by this gizmo without a satellite dish or other data transmission medium (i.e. internet)

Hi its no con, but its just an indoor aerial with limited capabilities.

You have to be within a tv transmitter of no more than 60-80 miles max.

So they are designed for use in uk not in Spain.

No way would they be capable of picking up uk transmissions from the continent.

Tests show they are no more than the equivalent of a wire hanger. As an indoor aerial they have poor tests and the recommendation from independent testers is do not waste your money.

Their are two ways to get UK tv in Spain.

A satellite dish with the appropriate lnb will get uk tv freesat channels in Vera. But bear in mind the set up has to be precise.

Unlikely to be set up manually or with the cheap " buzzer" tuners. You would need an installer with computer set up. Windy conditions may cause signal loss and of course heavy rain anywhere between the uk and Spain could cause picture loss.

Because of the absolute precise location set  up it may be necessary to pay for realignment particular after windy weather.

Alternatively,  a 10mbps internet connection or more and an Android device, phone, tablet or tv box will give you all the UK tv channels from the bbc, Itv and all sky channels for free.

It is not necessary or wise to pay an ex-pat iptv supplier because its all free and rebroadcasted tv is not legal in Spain.

The Guardia are currently investigating many of these "english ex- pat suppliers". A large network in the Malaga area are currently behind bars.

Currently if you are using an Android system to watch tv you will be okay but it is recommended you use a vpn service (available on free download) so you will not be tracked by the authorities or your internet provider.

You can buy an Android TV box from mediamarkt, tien21, mielectro and others. Free tv apps if not installed are freely available for download from the internet or app stores.

Trust this info helps.

No problem.  It can be confusing as what to do to get uk tv without having to subscribe to an unnecessary iptv service. Regards Al

1.3 should be okay realignment is critical. It has to be done very accurately.

A tip : when the sat engineer has aligned your dish ask him to put a screw through the bracket into the post to secure it from twisting on the mast in the wind, making it secure. Regards Al

A 1.3mtr dish won’t be large enough to receive the mainstream channels ie BBC, ITV etc. It will only get you a few free to air channels. A minimum of 1.9mtr dish is needed.
