I’ve heard talk that Next internet is in difficulties - can anyone substantiate this?  Apparently their internet side is still going, but a friend who has a Next subscription has been trying to ring them all day to try and find out what’s going on, with the phone going unanswered.

Anybody heard anything concrete?

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Yeah they are not the cheapest.  Word is they are in financial difficulties and thousands of customers could wake up one morning to find they have no internet - been a lot of talk on Facebook, but nothing I can substantiate.

They emailed us a few weeks ago, saying something about the channels changing and not being available, due to the end of a contract. They said they would contact us when it had been sorted.

I emailed them about a week later and, a few days after, they replied saying it should all be working fine and to contact them if any problems.

The actual email wasn't very clear and, really, not necessary.  This 'may' have lead to speculation! But then, with the pandemic and issues,  who knows.

Decided not to risk it and pulled the pin on Next; have swapped the person over to DigiMobil and they are thrilled.  Used to get between 3 - 5 Mbps with Next.  Now getting around 900 Mbps …. Buffering? What’s that … ?

Are they really getting 900Mb?

The quoted speeds are only for times when no one else is using the same routes?

One of the reasons for separate TV and internet deals is because the TV channel needs a protected bandwith to guarantee a signal and therefore is not shared and then costs more - your own private toll road if you like?

If you can get a guaranteed fast internet then you can put your TV system on it but a lot depends on location and availability?

I’m in Vera Playa, have just tested a wired connection at 940 Mbps down, 828 Mbps up via speedtest.net

I queried the email from Next announcing the changes they came straight back saying it would make no difference to our service. Out next week so will see what happens.

I emailed Next 4 times about he poor upload speed we were getting (12mb down and 0.8mb up) and they didn’t reply to any of them. We have CCTV which requires an average of 2mb upload and pay Next for 24/7 365 U.K. now feel let down. If I could find anything better for our area (back of Bedar) I would move in a shot.
