Thats all you need - you actually don’t even need NIE - just passports.  You’ll have to open a non-residents account, even if you are living here.  Once you obtain residency, you can swap to a residents account which will allow better savings plans etc.

Some banks will require a UK address to register the account until you obtain residency, and can then have a Spanish address for the account

Go into Banc Sabadell in the centre of Vera. They speak English and will be able to help you open an account. Having said that, our lawyer did it for us when we bought our property in Los Gallardos, so using a lawyer is another route.

DEFINITELY agree with Banco Sabadell Vera.  I have been with them since December 2014 and they offer excellent service

I would disagree - Estate Agents will tell you best bank account for them, which may not necessarily be the best for you; e.g. if one of the Estate Agents has a friendship with someone in a certain bank, that’s where they’ll direct you - please remember that patronage forms a very large part of life in the smaller towns (i.e. anywhere smaller than Almería ...!!)

Seek recommendations from others, as you’ll get a better picture than if you let someone choose an account for you.  An example would be Caja Rural - our business was directed to them as being “brilliant”.  They’re not.  Quite apart from the fact the staff speak absolutely no English at all (a minor thing for us, really, but all the same ...) their online banking is HORRENDOUS and half the time you cannot access the account.  We ditched Caja Rural and switched business account to Sabadell who are a lot better in my opinion (NOTE: my opinion only) and whose online banking / Smartphone App is about a thousand times better!! (Verifiable!!)
