Hi

I’m looking to rent For at least 3 months in Vera Playa. I have a cockerpoo dog. Does anyone have any experience of bringing a dog from UK. If so, did you use a company or make all arrangements yourselves. I’ve just been quoted £740 and that is only to supply a carrier for the dog, cat etc. I would still have to check dog in myself in UK and collect in Spain. Also I was told I would have to fly to Alicante as Almeria does not have necessary staff to deal with pets. Any helpful replies would be extremely appreciated.

I believe the direction to fly to Alicante is correct - Almería is not really a very big airport and may well not cater for pets.

We came from further afield than UK and used a firm called Pet Carriers ... May be worth looking to see if they do operate in UK.  Ticket was expensive (but like I say, much much further afield) but they took care of everything - supplying the carrier, picking our princess kitty up, putting her on the flight, all import documentation - my wife flew into Madrid and she came in on the same flight.  After my wife cleared, we drove straight to the cargo handling and picked her up.

Hi, i brought my two cats from Manchester to Alicante a few months ago.  It is true that Almeria does not cater for animals.  I cant remember the company i used but they were based at the airport and linked to Monarch airlines...obviously not linked now!!  The price you were quoted is similar to the price i was quoted.  I was quoted quite a lot more by PETAIR and decided not to use them as they were absolutely hopeless about getting back to me, arranging flights etc.  The carriers were delivered to my home in the UK and we had to take the cats to the cargo terminal at Manchester and pick them up at Alicante.  They were fine.  We arranged a taxi from Alicante to Almeria - Vera Playa in fact, which was quite expensive three hundred euros, i understand there is a bus that runs from Alicante airport though.  Let me know if you need to know anything else.  I just cant remember the name of the company based at Manchester Airport sorry!!

Hi, if you are up for a journey you can transport pets on the ferry, we took our cat over last June in a pet cabin. Sometimes it is hard to get a booking, though, and at this time of year if the weather is off you could get a rough crossing. Even if you can't get a pet cabin some of the boats have kennels...I've seen mixed reviews for them. If you are up for doing that but don't want to take your own vehicle, companies like Waytogo Hire offer one way rentals. Drive from Bilbao to the southeast is 8-10 hours, we did it in one but many break their journey overnight in Madrid.

Hi

Many thanks for your reply. I had been looking at ferry options and as you say you can bring more stuff. However, I don't want to drive (opposite side of road etc) or bring my car so I need to find vehicle rental from West Yorkshire that would allow us to leave car/van at Almeria airport. A friend has said that they will drive me and the dog then if I can find vehicle rental one way my friend could leave vehicle at airport and fly back.

Partner had her cat brought down by a pet transport guy using a Citroen C8 people carrier adapted to carry animals.

He picked the cat up from a cattery in Saffron Walden and delivered her to our driveway, all in around £350.

If your looking at ferries and pet friendly cabins then look at trying to book anything from at least 6 to 12 months in advance, no joke !!,

There are said to be pet cages on a dedicated pet deck but I've not looked into this and I've heard it can get messy and crowded with animals being exercised, plus as has been said you can get a bad crossing.

There are several companies that do pet, cat/dog transport, just Google it.

I'm sure partner can find the details of the company she used if you pm me.

I havent seen one way van hire that allows you to drop a van at Almeria, several do one way hire but they have depots in Murcia, which is as good an airport to fly out of as Almeria. To our village, Urcal, which is around 45 minutes from Mojacar your looking at 90 minutes from Murcia, 75 minutes from Almeria.

Hi there, we have a first floor 2 bed apartment with terrace a short drive/long walk from Vera Playa for long term rental if you are still looking. It is on a calm apartment complex of a few blocks with lots of outdoor space and an indoor and outdoor pool.

E375 a month plus bills.

Please let me know if you would like further information 👍🏼
