Hi,

I do hope this is correct but friends of ours processed on line via The Spanish Embassy in London. May be worth consulting on their webpage. Other than that you can consult any local Solicitor or use an Agency such as CAT Services in La Alfoquia or GL Expat Services in Turre.

Both on Google Search.

It.used to be you needed to have a Spanish Bank Account but really not sure now. One trip with your Agent & it's done. It's the Residencia that takes the time.

Best Wishes,

Bob and Sandra Lyons

If you are intending to remain in Spain for more than 3 months, you will need to get Residencia.  A UK passport allows residence / work in Spain for up to 3 months.  A stay longer than 3 months requires Residencia, irrespective of whether or not you are working.  Your Residencia will also get you the all important NIE, which is needed if you intend to purchase anything large, i.e. a car.

Please see this link for advice / information :

Saludos, Darío

It's worth a day out in London to visit  the Spanish Embassy. Their website has the times (basically mon - fri 9am to 1 ish).

No appointment is needed and the (reasonably) simple forms to fill in are free on line. You pre-fill them in and take a copy of your passport with you.

Cost is about £8 (ish) per person and the NIE numbers get emailed back to you. Ours took just over 3 weeks, in April.

Martin.

You will pay at least 100€/NIE in Huercal Overa. Solicitor or fixer takes you so.It's business rate++++++

Hi

We are also coming for the winter to Vera Playa for about 4-5 months. Didn't realise we needed residency. Not convenient for us to go to London so is it easy enough to wait until you arrive?

Thanks!

Have you tried to do on line? Only going by comments made by friends 'en passant'.

Worth a try.

Out here any Solicitor will arrange for.you or the fixer agencies in Turre or La Alfoquia. Just more expensive. Just check.that you are bringing all documents.

So much easier 15 years ago.

Hi Bob and Sandra

We are only renting for the winter months. Do we still need to apply for NIE cards?

Thank you for your reply.
