Hi all

My husband and I will be coming to Vera in November.  We have rented a villa for 6 months.

We would like to buy a couple of sim card for our phones - so could I ask which network would you recommend and where should we go to purchase. We will be in Almeria for a couple of days before heading to Vera - maybe that would be a better place to buy.

Also could I ask, is it easy get from Almeria to Vera Playa by public transport - we will be hiring a car but not for the 1st couple of weeks.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello.  Firstly it takes about an hour to get to Almeria from Vera playa. There are no local buses but the coach company Alsa go there however  I don't think they are very frequent. Your best bet is either Garrucha to purchase your phones or Buganvilas in Vera playa.  Sim cards are also available from these places but I cannot say which one is the cheapest.  There will certainly be pay as you go services available. I used to be with Hits but I think the nearest agent for that is the phone company in Parque Commercial, MOJACAR. Hope this has been helpful.

You can’t go past DigiMobile - if you check their website you can find the nearest outlet to you.  They are carried by Movistar and offer an incredible range which can be changed month to month as it suits you.  I have the 10€ illimitada and for that I get unlimited national calls and 3GB data.  Unused data rolls over to next month.  For same price you can get Combo 10 which giv s you 400 minutes national and international and 2.5GB data - same deal, unused data rolls over.  They have also started now roaming throughout Europe.

See https://www.digimobil.es/ for details - they also offer dedicated English customer service

Saludos, Darío

Totally agree with advice below. Defo go for Digi Mobile, there is a little supermarket on las Burganvillas and the man Antonio who runs it speaks English if you need it. I also have the 10€ deal unlimited calls and 3gb of data which rolls over. I’ve just changed the works phone over from Vodafone  to Digi too after searching for best deals. Good luck

Also re Almeria to Vera I’m sure there is a shuttle runs directly from the airport to all local areas, check on there website Exclusive airport shuttles.
