Hello everyone,

We are coming to Vera in a few days to look at properties for our permanent retirement move…hopefully in a few months. Any advise on areas to avoid or to look at. Advise re estate agents and if we see a property that we like who do you recommend checking it for us. Any help would be gratefully appreciated as only coming for 3 days. Thanks. Anna

3 days is not enough time to make such a big decision.  it depends what you are looking for as well let alone areas.  Spanish Property choice are an english estate agents seen on Ch 4 tv who could help you sort some of it out.  You would be better off renting first to get some knowledge of the places and then decide where and what you want to buy.  Take it you are already going through the processes needed to move here as mentioned many times on this forum unless you have EU status of course.

Hi Alicia,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control that is all the time we have on this trip. We do have EU status. Thank you for your suggestions. If you have any further advise please let me know. Best wishes, Anna

then write a list of everything you regard as important to you and your situation.  Are you looking for amenities nearby, so do you use a car when here or not, not many areas have public transport.  what about your health needs?  do you want access to the beach or is the countryside your thing?  what about a pool communal or private?  rule out the type of area you don't want and the type of property and size you want especially if to live here, a lot of places are small because they are for holiday use.  you will also need a good solicitor to get your NIE for purchase and a Spanish bank account of course.  Do your homework and you will find the place you want but don't rush it. As EU passport holders you have the advantage of being able to come and go whenever you want so make use of it. good luck

If you are coming to Vera, then I’d recommend talking to Val at AM3 in Vera.  Valerie is a native English speaker, fluent in French and Spanish.

AM3 have a LOT of properties both for sale and rent in and around Vera / Vera-Playa.  Let me know if interested and I’ll PM you all her contact details.

Thank you for the recommendation. We will do our best to make contact with them. We are already booked up for this visit as it is a short scouting visit.

When we moved over we took on a long term rental in Vera Playa through a Mojacar based agent mentioned in this thread..It was the best thing to do as we got to experience life in VP as well as explore other areas. We also gained valuable  experience of an estate agent.

Long term rentals are generally not expensive so I highly recommend this. To be honest, it's not just experience of areas that you need before buying, you also need to experience what everyday life is like here, and there are many things to consider that you do not encounter on a holiday! Take on a 9- 12 month rental and see what you think.

Hi Anna we bought a place near Albox and used Almeria Casas ask for Vicky she was so helpful to us and trusted her completely . She also found us a great Solicitor who did everything and more when the house was purchased . Albox cantoria area is lovely. Lots of shops and things to do and around 30 mins drive to the beach .

Hi, try http://www.colesofandalucia.com/ They are based in Turre and know the local areas very well. We purchased our place in Vera through them and Simon was extremely friendly and helpful.
