Hi we have been asked to visit our bank to register our documents.  Just wondering if anyone has had a similar request.

I have no problem complying with the banks request, aside from it being a waste of time as we took our TIE's, passports, padrón etc in 2 months ago when we changed our account from non resident to resident.

TIA Karen

I had a couple of messages and they are now asking us for a TIE which we don't  have, only the A4 green permanent residency papers, because the passport number is no longer valid on the bank book.  We have until end of October  to comply.  I told them we will be in at the end of the month and they can change them then. Strangely enough only a couple of days prior to their communique we sat for ages signing various documents because we have changed our postal address, they could have asked us then!   However i expect the latest missive came from the regional office in Almeria. If you have a bank book check whether its your passport number alongside your name, if that is the case that might be the reason they are asking you for more information!  Bureaucracy!!!!

Thanks for the reply but as I said they had our TIE's + current passport details (still with 5+years validity) as soon as our residencia was granted and we have both signed. That's all within the last 6 weeks.

Lyn77 we had this request from our Cajamar branch in Mojacar and took our green paper certificate and our passports in and the clerk copied them and did not ask for a TIE.  we are though in the process of changing over as it seems it will be something that is expected soon.   After Brexit the banks have to have proof of your residency and the TIE is the easiest way.

Yes Alicia i agree that the TIE is more convenient than the large A4 DOCUMENT, but for the time being we will gave to put up with the paper certificate. We will change it in time of course.

Thanks people, the saga continues..... Hubby had his appointment with the bank today.  Manager wouldn't accept the TIE, he wanted the A4 resident doc.  Hubby patiently explained that oue TIE is the new style card that all new residents receive.  When he grudgingly accepted it hubby produced my card and was told my account was fine and they didn't need my docs.  Only one problem, it's a joint account.  Really couldn't make it up 🙄🙄🙄

You are in macho Spain!   As long as they have your husbands documents he will be the first named person on the account.  Its the same with bills, the mans name is prominent!   Only if you have, say, a credit card in your name  which isnt a joint one would they need your name and documents!!! C'est la vie!!!
