Hi,

I too am moving to that area in a couple of months.  I don’t have any info regarding furniture shops of new furniture but I do know the universal truth (that we all have to learn) that generally, furniture is really expensive in Spain, and consequently there is a thriving second hand furniture industry to tap into.

We have been living in Los Higuerales, Árboleas for the last 6 months, and I was delighted to find a really large secondhand furniture showroom run by Brits, all under cover and sheltered.  It’s popular so the furniture seems to turn over very quickly but the quality is usually quite high. I’ve bought a few lovely things there, and it’s really good value, as you have to compare it with Spanish furniture prices, not those in the UK.  The Attic also sell tubs of chalk paint in various colours, if you’re refurb and upcycling minded!  Of course, you have to keep visiting if you’re looking for something specific, but they do phone me when something I’m looking for comes along, as they’re very obliging.  You get a coffee and a chat while you’re shopping, too!

I’ve not found a similar second hand showroom in the Velez area but I do know that the people we are purchasing our house from travel regularly to Albox and always pop in to see the latest selection.  The Attic delivers to Velez, I understand, if you can’t get your purchase in the car.

It’s on Avenida Europa, El Cucador, near Zurgena and it is only 45 minutes away from Velez Rubio.

Hope this helps!

Warm regards,

Chrissie

Hi, we also recently moved into Velez Rubio 3 weeks ago and have had to buy furniture for our property, having made the mistake of leaving ours in the UK as many people said as it would cost to much to transport. As Chrissie said furniture is very expensive in Spain and you can't afford to try and Match UK prices.

There are a couple of secondhand shop within Rubio however, the quality can range from bad to fairly decent. There are several furniture shops within Velez Rubio, the main one been     Soriano who sell all your requirements in several different stores within Velez Rubio.

We brought our bedroom furniture from there from Juan Miguel who speaks some English and is extremely helpful. Surprising there very difficult to pay and will wait until your happy with it. Unlike the Uk. The price includes delivery and fixing unheard of in the Uk.

Staff at the attic are helpful, however, it's very hit and miss to what they have and you want. Delivery from there to Rubio is 50€.

We did travel to San Javier to DFS because we wanted Oak furniture takes about an 1 hour 30mins from Rubio and of course they reflect UK prices. delivery to Rubio is 69€

Regards

Cliff
