Hiya,

Moving to the area next year and wanting advice.

I want to get Residencia.  Like to know how I go about it and if anyone can recommend someone to help with the process.

Need to get NIE.  Where do I go to get advice.

Is it easy to open a bank account?  What docs will I need.

Is it easy buying a car?  Are there people who can help with it.

As I don't speak Spanish I would need help from someone who speaks it.

One last question are there any fitness clubs in the area.

Sorry for all the questions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

You can process for an NIE at the Spanish Embassy before you come out. Look at their www.

GL EXPAT SERVICES in Turre (Golden Leaves) on www/ Google Search can help you with almost everything-,obviously for a fee. Not sure about Spanish Driving License-have to ask.

New car or used????? Cars here are more expensive than UK. Buy through a garage, not privately, as they do all the paperwork. Make sure it's their vehicle and they are not selling on behalf of another person. If the latter you will discover you have no warranty as friends if ours discovered.

Quite a number of fitness clubs. Mojacar Pueblo has Sports CENTRE with heated pool.

Look on.line for The Almeria Focus Magazine and Directory. After or about page 106 for Clubs and Activities.

Hope some of that is helpful.

Season's Greetings,

Bob and Sandra

Hi, there us a lot if information to take in. Bob has given you good advice. Before you start on your journey look at the uk gov website, search for 'moving and living in Spain' it will advise you on everything you need to do, especially with Brexit. It ill tell you what you need so to move out here and live, either renting or buying.

Then when you understand what you need to accomplish then ask for local recommendations for legal advice or legal help from people that have used these services.

A piece of advice, only take instructions from a fully qualified professional gestoria's ( legal advisor) or abogado (lawyer).

Resist the advice from the friendly chappie down the bar, not good for you.

Good luck with your future move.

You get NIE when you get Residencia.  No need to pay twice.

This should help you : https://www.gov.uk/guidance/residency-requirements-in-spain#residency-requirements

Thank you for the website address.  The one thing I do need to know but can not find out if I can get residencia as I only have savings and no other form of income.  Everything seems to suggest that you either have to be employed/self-employed or have a pension.  Is this correct?

Not strictly - you can get Residencia if you can show you have an average of 9.750,00€ in a Spanish bank account.  This is done by obtaining a Certificado Saldo Medio Anual from the bank.

You can open a Spanish account with a passport, no problems.  Until you have Residencia they will require you to provide an address in England as well as any Spanish address you have.

Un saludo, Darío

Thanks for the reply.

The information on the British website you gave me does not mention having adequate savings in your Spanish bank account, so a little confused.  Please can you direct me to a Spanish website with this is information.  Or are you Spanish and know the process by helping foreigners move to Spain.

There just seems to be different information given which makes it very frustrating.

Thanks.

Freda

Hola Freda, I’m English, but with a Spanish name, but yes, have helped 4 people now through the Residencia process.  I am not accredited by Spanish government to do this, so I am not a Gestor or Abogado, but having been through the process 4 times including accompanying applicants to Almería, nor am I the “friendly chappie down at the bar” that Rascalmate mentions :-D

The information needed is hard to get, and I guarantee different Gestor / Abogados will provide differing requirements - my first bit of advice will be to retain the services of someone who is a) qualified and; b) thoroughly familiar with the process.  I would happily recommend our Asesoria in Vera, but she speaks no English.  I would suggest C.A.T services in La Alfoquia would be a very very good place to start.

I CAN tell you that as a normal, natural person, moving to Spain with no job and not eligible for a UK pension and intending to stay for more than 3 months, you WILL need a) Bank account. b) Register on Padrón with local Ayuntamiento. c) a completed form EX18, normally completed by your Gestor or person dealing with paperwork. d) Payment of taxes of 12,00 € for Application. (This is accomplished by taking a form you will be presented with by Gestor to a bank and paying over the counter or from your account.  This form is endorsed by the bank and given back to you) e) Proof of income as previously described. f) proof of Health Insurance.

Once you have this, an appointment at Extranjeria in Almería is made online.

Hi,

As you will note we have 2 properties. If you were in the Albox, Arboleas, Huercal Overa area I would have mentioned CAT Services but this is 60+km from Turre which is why I mentioned GL EXPAT SERVICES. No problem with getting a quote/ info from both.

Best Wishes yet again,

Bob and Sandra
