Hi

I’m Michelle from Sligo in West of Ireland and hoping to purchase in Turre/Vera Playa area as I’ve been a couple of times as I’ve family who recently purchased there .

Is it a good place to live ? Would you recommend other towns nearby? Any must do’s or don’ts?

Ideally I’d like somewhere to holiday in and eventually move to...

Hi,

Slightly inland from Mojacar & there is a bus service of sorts. Quite a large Brit & other ex pat population. A few restaurants.

Certainly.less frenetic than Mojacar during July / August and less.busy the rest of year. The old town has seemed claustrophobic to us and the more modern urbanisations on the periphery often LBMOT-T.

It's just horses for courses naturally.

Vera Plays.just seems like an enormous spread of Urbanisations empty for much of year. It would have carried on spreading, & indeed is marked out, if not for implosion of property market.

It's all so personal.

BEST WISHES,

Bob and Sandra

Okay, out of left field, I’d like to recommend ... Valle Del Este.  This is where we live.  It is a little oasis, a spot of lush green paradise just off the E15.  It’s a Golf Resort, but I don’t play golf .... it’s not a requirement.

We are 7 minutes from Garrucha, 7 minutes from Vera town, and about 7 minutes from Vera Playa.  Housing here is still a very reasonable price and for around 9 months of the year it is quiet and peaceful.  June / July / August, it gets a little busier, but it’s not overwhelming, like Mojácar.

There is a Centro Comercial here with a sports bar, a restaurant and a cocktail bar - also a very very small Coviran supermarket.  We also have a Fibre Optic Provider on-site at the Centro Comercial - Hola Fibra - offering extremely good deals on Fibre Optic (100 MBPS up AND down, unlimited data and 100 TV channels for 30,00€ per month)

I rarely extol the virtues of VdE, but we’ve been living here a year now and love it.  It is conveniently placed to EVERYWHERE and really is tranquil.  If you like golf - we’ll thats a bonus!

It’s a great place to holiday and eventually move to - if you’d like photos, please ask, I’d be happy to send some to you

Saludos, Darío

Interested to read Bob and Sandra's comments about Vera Playa. We have rented in that area over the winter but are now having doubts that it will be too quiet. I had posted on this topic earlier but had no responses.

Grateful for your opinions, Forum users.

Thank you in anticipation.

Hi,

I am curious to find out what LBMOT-T means in Bob's post. It doesn't seem very obvious to me

Hi Michelle,

If you are planning on living here for a good portion of the year then Vera Playa may be very quiet and may be hard to get involved in any community groups for that area etc as it is very quiet outside of the summer months. I have a property on the Playa in Mojacar but I primarily use it for holidays and renting out. There is a strong community in Mojacar playa  which I enjoy but the property is more expensive than inland. Turre is a very nice location with a very strong British and even Irish ex pat community. Los Gallordas may be an option also and the town of Vera is a larger option which has all the major supermarkets etc. If buying rural then please ensure you have a good solicitor and ensure the property is fully legal. Im from Limerick myself and have been going to Mojacar for 18 years. Love the whole area, the people and the relaxed way of life. Wishing you the very best. Noel Regan.

Thanks Noel. I'm going over next week and exploring the area by car to see if Turre is the place for me. It's primarily a bolthole for now then eventually maybe Winters there and Summer here..

Regards

Michelle

Sorry, Bob, the abbreviation LBMOT-T still does not mean anything to me. I have never heard of Pete Seeger before but when I looked him up on the internet I recognised the song "We Shall Overcome"  but that doesn't explain what LBMOT-T means.
