Hi folks. i'm planning to buy a holiday home in Almeria soon, for some reason,i'm not sure why' i seem to have settled on Turre. Anyone fancy being Devil's advocate and suggesting reasons why i should consider another town in the general coastal Almeria area????

Hiya,

Surely you'd be the best person to decide this? Follow what your heart wants and just go for it! Turre is as good a place as any.....

Hi.Ricardo, you are right of course!!! but i think i am attracted to the accommodation on offer more than the town itself, maybe i could find equally good  homes nearer to an airport for example but there is so much choice i am a bit overwhelmed and thought a few pointers from people living in the area might help me in my search but thank you for your reply .( maybe fate is playing a part in this) regards billy

Let me know how you get on. As for me, I settled in a rural area near Albox/Cantoria area simply because the properties were cheaper and everything else just slotted in. Shops, stores and bars are close by and the beach is just 40 minutes away. Being in a remote place, getting to and from the airport can be a bit of a fag though, hence my recent post about airport lifts.....

Ricardo.

Have you been to Bédar? Beautiful village about 20 mins away from Turre,   speak to Tim & Jo at Olive, Property Sales.  Not pushy, very knowledgeable about the area & they have some great properties on their books. www.olivehouse-es.com

I think Turre is as good a place as any if you do not want to be right on the coast. There are plenty of shops and bars and a market on Friday. It is only a short drive to the beaches of Mojacar, Garrucha and Vera Playa and handy for the motorway. I live on the coast at Vera Playa but think Turre is a good compromise if you want to live inland. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi,Jas thanks for your reply, i looked at vera playa and thought it would be too touristy but if there is an ex-pat community maybe i'll take another look, Cheers and best regards, Billy

Hi, I relocated to Turre 3 months ago and have no regrets. It's a lovely place, friendly locals, near  to the coast or mountains. We even have a bus service!!!
