Hi,   Ive just been informed by the Spanish pensions office that I need to go to the police station {Almeria) and get a Green card with my British passport. Anyone know the relevance of this.

I would suggest they mean your Residencia - I take it you don’t have Residencia?  You will most definitely need it ... obtained from Oficina de Extranjeria in Almería (staffed by CNP)

Thanks  Dario.  It  just occurred to  me that seeing as how with the pension comes health  care  could they mean the health  card as I seem to  think  that  that  was green

It is, but I didn’t have to go to Almería to get mine.  I applied via my local Centro de Salud and received my tarjeta sanitaria by post - Residencia was a prerequisite for getting the health card though

Once you become a pensioner your health card is red not green.   Residencia definitely green.

Hi Dario.

Im having huge problems with this forum its taking forever to load or  answer anything.I will explain our problem maybe you can suggest an answer. My partner (lady) lol lived in turre since 1989,then her husband fell ill and they had to return to the UK in 2010.He was seriously ill and died in April 2018.She then cleared things up in the UK and returned here in Sept 2019.She then finds that all her papers are out of date.Spain have been paying her a widows pension which covers her for health care. They suddenly stopped the payments and we have since found out it was because she didnt notify them in March that she was still living !!! We have been to the pensions dept and it now seems to be sorted or so they say.the problem is she needs  the confirmation  that health care is included for her application of resedencia. and there is the problem. How to get  this in black and white grrrr.sorry its long  winded  but our abogardas  doesnt seem to  know  what  we  are  talking  about

Then need to change Abogados! Trying to navigate this one on your own will be nightmarish given the utter love of bureaucracy here.  With my limited understanding, I’d suggest you first need an updated - a valid - Green Residencia card; this seems to be the driving force here.  If you have a valid green Residencia card, you are legal and alive and can apply for things.

My understanding is that your partners documentation has lapsed and what they require to set things straight is a renewed green Residencia card, showing current address and NIE.  If she has had one previously, I think the process is simpler as you only need apply to replace a lost or missing certificate - but you really will need someone who can navigate the ocean of bureaucracy
