Does anyone have any reliable information regarding the emergency in Turre at 8pm last night? I could hear sirens and see flashing lights and what appeared to be a medical 'convoy' making its way slowly through the village. I was hoping to go shopping today but am now reconsidering that plan. There might be any number of reasons but my desire for information will be obvious given the arrival of 'la familia Madrileña' eight days ago. TIA.

Thanks Derek, that's a relief.

We do the same in England on Thursday nights, this Thursday it was to include thanking the brave people who perform vital services like dustbin removal and food provision for us in shops - putting themselves at increased risk. We were able to hear clapping and cheering from the village even across the fields at our farm, and a passing train hooting the horn at 8pm. Good Luck, to those in Spain, keep safe.

Thanks Bess.
I too am remote from the village in the campo but saw and heard it from a distance. To show appreciation for the personal risks some people are taking is truly commendable, I only wish I could join in. Mantenerse a salvo! Malcolm

We live in Vera in the campo, but every night at 8 pm we turn the music , clap, thanking the medical staff and the people of Spain for obeying lockdown, it a good community feeling, wonderfull, queuing at the chemist ,so good that each person keeps 3mtrs apart or more and so polite, a few lessons to be learnt from them all I think

Why only Thursdays? Cant they be bothered to thank them the rest of the week? Or is that the day your leaders tell you to support them?

Interesting question, I believe it was started by a private person who had seen it happening in Italy. There are many ways of thanking people: perhaps making clapping at 8pm a weekly accolade makes that more special? There are so many reports of small acts of personal help and support for these brave people and countless more that are not recorded. There are bad people about too, but thousands volunteering. In times of difficulty we need leaders to coordinate things, you are in Spain now, be happy, look forward, no need to be sour about the country you decided to leave...

Oh your making assumptions, so why would I be sour about the country I left?

Well, it's still going on throughout Spain and also here in Vera ,again last night, I join in with Spanish music playing loudly and clapping ,and why not,? My wife is recovering slowly from cancer, I think the medical staff in Spain deserve a lot more than what I can give.
