I walk daily in and around Turre and near the school I get greeted by a bitch dog who has clearly had a litter recently. There’s no collar on her and she’s very nervous. Although today she did come close enough to sniff my hand.

How do I tell if she’s been abandoned?

I see where she sleeps but don’t want to get too close to look for pups in case it upsets her and she abandon’s them.

Any advice?

She could belong to a gitano family but it is also quite likely she has been dumped in turre,by a Spaniard because of the high Brit population,it makes it a "good" place from there point of view, having pupps is also a valid reason to be dumped... Shit I know!!

Does anybody feed her in a regular spot?

Is she hanging out near houses?

Its possible she gets kicked out for hours a day by her typical Spanish owner...

I hope you can help her!

Good luck

JJ

I have nothing against Spanish but let's face it,they don't care for animals the same way we do!

Thank you for your reply. To be honest she looks reasonably healthy. Not emaciated. But clearly she’s looking for food and always comes from the same undergrowth. She’s in between houses and apartments on scrub land. I don’t know if offering her food is going to get me lynched by a local?

I may give it a try tomorrow and post how I get on 😊

This is very true. A guy cycled past me this morning at at least 10-15mph with a small chihuahua on a lead virtually dragging the poor thing! He soon stopped after the look of utter disgust I gave him!

thanks again.

Do let us know how you get on with her mañana

Good luck again and have a nice weekend

I would put down, food and water daily,  if you put down dry food, the water is very important, she needs to be fed as she is feeding pups, she will eventually trust you, and then you can check on the pups and perhaps get one of the charities to help.

Good Luck and thank you for helping her.

Kind Regards  Jenni

Hi all

Update on ‘Mumma Dog’

So this morning she came out from a slight different patch when I called and ‘oh happy days’ she wagged her tail, approached and licked my hand and arm a few times. Probably the most human contact she’s had in ages!

I watched her go back in to the scrub and saw her ‘Den’ so I am convinced she’s homeless. Very well hidden. Taken food and fresh water for her and will do going forward.

Will try to get a picture tomorrow and seek advice from dog rescue

Thanks all 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hi Tazthen,

Thats brilliant news, Well done, you are definitely doing the right thing, and as Jen Jen says, she will love you forever. Keep up the good work, I would contact the charities a.s.a.p. if I were you so they can help in homing the pups and getting mum spayed when the time comes.

Well Done and thanks for the update

Kind Regards  Jenni
