Hi. We are travelling to live inTurre at the end of March. We own a Horsefield Tortoise, and was wondering if it is legal to own one in Spain, as we have read the Spain authorities can fine you for owning a tortoise, or is it a specific breed. Any help with this would help as we travel in 4 weeks.

I have a friend that moved here with her 6 tortoises, 2 Giant ones, she has had no problems, she lives in Murcia, so best to check at your local town hall, as rules vary from region to region.

Thank you 😊. Would you know if any paperwork is required for travelling. We are catching the ferry over with our dog, and I am not sure what happens at the border if we declare the tortoise.
