Hi

My mum and I are looking to relocate to Almeria but are not familiar with the best areas to live, as British ex pats.  Any recommendations would be welcome.  Nowhere too noisy but with transport links.

Also any recommendations of long term rental agencies would be welcome

Many thanks

Janet

Hi. Enquiry is way too general. Almeria is a city & an area in Andalusia which, I believe  is the largest province in Spain.

We live between our 2 Spanish properties in Mojacar, Almeria and Puerto Lumbreras, Murcia Province. Would always suggest a rental to start but with a motor vehicle so you can travel the surrounding areas and talk to people. So, generally, Vera Playa has numerous rental properties & generally cheaper than Mojacar. You are just coming up to peak season when everywhere is noisier, more expensive & more crowded. Like UK Seaside towns. So pros & cons.

Sorry to be so.nebulous.

Best Wishes

thanks for your response. We will be looking for an area with ex pats not too far from the coast so maybe Vera is a possibility but I read it is a nudist resort which I don't mind on the beach but not around the town!!😁

No, It's the far end of Vera PLAYA which is the Naturist part & I believe it is restricted to beach area. But if you look at Mojacar then the far end of Macenas Beach and what used to be called Campers Beach also attracts fat naked.uglies. ( You would pay them to dress!!!!!!!). Yjisbisheading out of town towards Carboneras.

Vera is the town slightly inland and you also have Antas and Villaricos, Turre and Palamares. All of these are popular with ex-pats.

Personally love the area although come July/ August it would be our cottage outside Puerto Lumbreras. Believe me Mojacar just becomes frenetic so I abandon the apt completely although Sandra can manage it. Anyway come August we are off to Croatia in our motorhome. It's a shame your folks aren't caravaners or motorhomers as it's a.brilliant way to explore an area at minimal cost. And so many free sites.now.

Hope it's been some.help and anything specific, don't hesitate.

BobL is obviously not a naturist judging by his crass comments. Vera town is approx 8km form the beaches of Vera Playa. The naturist area is clearly displayed and the far end is a proper naturist village. From Puerto Rey heading towards Garrucha the beaches are textile and very clean and plenty of space to relax and lots of bars and restaurants to eat and drink.

There are quite a lot of ex-pats round Vera town which has a good selection of shops, bars restaurants, etc. There is also Turre which is nearer to Mojacar but in summer we tend to keep away from there altogether due to the vast amount of tourists. If you want anymore info, private message us and we will try to help

Best wishes,

Tony and Karen.

No,just a lover of the human form of which so many are not. I loose track of the indirect inguinal hernias, ventral hernias, varicose veins  gynecomastia, varicocoeles, various cutaneous and dermatological conditions et al. May be  interesting to you but after 30+ years of treating such pathology I no longer wish to see grotesqueries. Still whatever floats your boat.

are you saying that Turre also becomes very crowded in the summer? We would like to make a circle of friends and Turre seems to have a community, do Yu ou think that Garrucha would offer this as well. Only going to be living initialy for the 6 winter months.

This entire area becomes horrendously crowded in July & August with overflow either side. Gratefully we have a country cottage 60km from coast & whilst Sandra is happy to contend with the noise and ignorance of the transients I retreat to the tranquillity of 200acres with our nearest neighbour 2km away. Believe me you will have no difficulty forming or joining a social group.
