Ok my first post and it’s a simple question
What’s it like to live in Taberno as we are thinking of moving to the area
Cheers Mick

Hi, we have friends who have a villa just on the outskirts of Taberno who saw the villa and fell in love with it on the spot.
Taberno itself seems to be a relatively small village of small houses and apartments, fairly dominated by the local church.
I've driven into the centre of the village and tbh there doesnt seem to be much of it, you'll get a better idea if you look down into the village from a vantage point on the road that gets you to Albox. It's typically whitewashed and Spanish tho I dont know what the ratio of ex pats to Spanish is.
Albox is around 20 minutes and Huercal Overa and the A7 E15 motorway about the same. Coast is another roughly 40 minutes further on.
There's a large communal pool too. Lovely countryside, Friends shop at Lidl Consum and Mercadona in Huercal, there's lots of shops and big markets in both H/O and Albox, as the saying goes theres a market on somewhere every day, you'll deffo need a vehicle of some description.
Hopefully others will add to this bit of basic background.

We live in another small village called Urcal, been on Life in the Sun twice and filming is on the go as we speak.
If youre looking for property, try Vosses in H/O, Spanish property choice again in H/O and there's other agents in Albox too. Have fun, we've been here since last March 2017 and just love it.

Hello mick,
My husband and I have been living happily in the small town of Taberno since May. We are on the edge of town, with a 5 minute walk to the shops. There is a pharmacy, small supermarket, bank and tobacconist. The very popular restaurant here, is unfortunately closed. We’ve met a few other English people and some Scandinavians, but it’s a traditional Spanish town, which is why we like it. We do our shopping in Albox pretty much and go to Arbeleos for the market and to visit friends. A form of transport is a must, but the roads really quiet so it’s great. If you need to be around other ex pats, this might not be right for you, but the Spanish here are friendly and if we spoke a bit more Spanish it would be an advantage. But we are quite happy to do our own thing, so it suits us fine😊 Oh one more thing, it seems a bit cooler up here now the winter has arrived, compared to Albox etc! But we have a stunning mountain behind us so hay ho!! Hope this helps

Be careful! Do not part with a penny until you have written proof that land described as 'urban' really truly is and has permission for building/ swimming pool or conversion of other buildings as advertised (without extra large payments), and that 'connected' electricity/water actually exists and is legally so. There is tempting property advertised in this area that I know is not accurately described...

Yes I quite agree with Bess. We are as we speak having a pool installed. But before we put in an offer on our property, our solicitor made a formal inquiry to be sure this was permissible, as this was a deal breaker for us. Get everything checked out definitely.😊
