I seem to be having the almost identical problem with both the above companies and it has been going on for years.

I had a contract firstly with Orange for wireless internet, it was O.K. for some time and then the signal virtually disappeared. After many failed attempts at getting the service back I cancelled the contract (well past the contracted period). They continued to take money from my account (even though I had returned the equipment to the shop) and so I asked my bank to cease payment. Since the there has been constant requests for payment, I have sent numerous emails, certified letters, had futile attempts at resolving the problem by phone (usually they just cut me off). Today I have had emails saying that my information will be placed on a delinquency file by a company called Procobro ( it now appears that Procobro, Orange, Bunes Capital are all the same company.

Without going into more boring detail I now have an almost identical experience with Movistar.

It is very strange that communication companies only communicate when opening a contract and then all attempts at communication hit a brick wall.

i am just interested if anyone has had similsr experiences

Movistar are the pits! I had Movistar until I swapped to Digi; at which point Movistar made it very VERY difficult for Digi to get the information they needed to activate my line with them (Digi is carried on Telefonica lines, same as Movistar)

They demanded equipment back then made it difficult to actually return by changing where they wanted it returned to and not sticking with the agreed return date.  I changed bank accounts at the same time so they weren’t able to continue taking money.

On the flip side, Digi has been superb, they communicate readily, always answer queries and have a dedicated English language line

I changed to Avanza for less than half the price of Movistar.    Avanza's staff have excellent English. They also agreed to help me sort out my Movistar contract cancellation, because Movistar don't seem to have many people who can speak English well.  We called Movistar together from Avanza's shop and the thing was immediately sorted out.    When we then took our redundant Movistar equipment to their shop near Vera Playa, there were quite a few people in the queue returning stuff.  Movistar obviously aren't bothered about the huge expat market, so other companies step in and provide a better service.
