I was wondering if anyone like me has booked a parcel service pickup recently.  I booked, through GLS a parcel delivery company, to deliver a box to a relative in the north of Spain.  I ran off the labels and got the parcel ready for the pickup at home yesterday.  Yesterday morning I received an 08.15am  email to say the parcel pickup would arrive between 9am and 4pm, which it didn't, or even later on  - bearing in mind delays because of Covid etc.  Neither was there a phone call or email and it was impossible to talk to a living person on the telephone!  The web pages do not help for this type of problem.  I just want to know when to expect someone as I must go out sometime I suppose!  Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh, and another thing is that I am expecting a package sent to me from the UK from an elderly person who is worried sick - to the extent that she cant sleep! - that I wont get it, as it should have arrived by now, having paid the Post Office for a 3 day rapid delivery.  I know we´ve also had a bank holiday here, but there is nothing on the tracking about it being in Spain whatsoever and as it´s coming through a postal service there is no email address or phone number for contacting me by those means.

Hello.

I have only had one experience of GLS and I'm afraid it was not a good one. It seems they were the courier of choice when I ordered something for my mum in Arboleas. We received confirmation that it had been delivered but we were in all day and nothing had arrived. We ended up going to their office in Albox (not overly helpful) and were eventually told to try Total Entertainment (newsagents) in Arboleas. We did finally find the parcel there. The owner did say they would have rung us once it was on their system (we had provided a phone number on the Amazon order) however, she also said they had parcels from more than a year ago that had never been collected - I don't know what attempts, if any, had been made to get the parcels to the recipients, who may not even have been aware they had been sent something.

I know this doesn't help with your parcel collection, I can only say that I would never use them.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm afraid there is no option.  GLS seems to administrate a whole series of delivery companies.  I made the booking online through Packlink who asked for package weight, volume etc then sent the link on to  GLS who then gave me estimates from various firms, including Correos Express, Seur etc and I chose one called Zeleris and was redirected to their web, gave details again, booked collection day and paid.  They confirmed the booking and sent labels and packing instructions.  Have just had an SMS this evening sending me a link which lead to a page booking yet another collection, which now will be tomorrow.  I'm not totally confident that they will arrive as you can imagine and just wish they would telephone instead of directing me to some uninformative web page.

My goodness that sounds like a bit of a longwinded nightmare! Good luck with the collection and if GLS are delivering that other parcel good luck with that too. And if they are then maybe keep in mind that they may send it to a central pick up point, like the local newsagent, rather than your home address.

...e address.

Well when ordering from Amazon.es that is what happens and I pick up at Campohermoso Post Office as it's easier to get to from where I live than Sorbas but in neither place is there  a drop off point and this is a 12 kilo box.  A lot of larger parcels are picked up by the van at senders address.  However, as I live in the campo and not in a street  with a house number......

Try using Amanda in the rambler near Lubrin. I found the service exceptionally good.

Thanks, but I'm unfortunately that's not in my area.  I'm nearer to the Venta del Pobre.

I've had my money returned and so will just go to the post office in Campohermoso after Reyes. It'll cost a bit more to send 11 kilos, but at least I can count on it arriving in Oviedo.

I have only used Amanda once to send two heavy parcels to an address in Norwich. They arrived a few days later and Amanda phoned me to tell me they had been delivered. When I asked her whether they brought stuff the other way she assured me that yes they collect and deliver door-to-door. I'm sure you can't be too far away.

Well that could be useful if in future I need to send to the UK, although I'm not sure whether sending or receiving parcel post might be more complicated now because of brexit.  Do you happen to have a contact number or email address for Amanda please?  I'm in Mizala but we hate driving over the mountain road because of meeting up with HGV vehicles, test drivers etc and avoid Sorbas unless for doctor, vet and town hall, but it could come in handy to have details.
