Hi my name is Vera, along with my husband and possibly grandchildren we are looking to rent a villa in Cabrera next year, unfortunately although we have travelled extensively in the area, this is one spot we haven't visited.  The property looks very nice but ……  Does anyone have any information that would help us, e.g. is there enough to do, restaurants, just general really the rental will be from mid April to June.  I really would appreciate any contribution

Hi Vera

The villas in the Cabrera mountains are lovely and usually of a very luxurious standard, with incredible views. There are, I believe, 2 restaurants up there. For day to day essentials shopping and any other entertainment you will probably have to travel down the mountain to visit one of the local towns nearby - Mojacar, Garrucha, Turre, Vera etc.

If you are interested in considering alternatives, and would like to pm me, I would be happy to give you details of my villa close to Bedar. Again, this is in the mountains but the difference is that essential services are literally a 5 minute drive away. My 4 bed, 3 bath villa sleeps 7. It has a large swimming pool in the grounds. I also offer optional extras to my guests which include a babysitting service, Pilates, Yoga and Personal Training classes with fully qualified and experienced teachers and therapies such as Massage and Reiki - again with fully qualified staff.

Whatever you decide, I know you will have a wonderful holiday in this lovely part of Spain! All the best, Sue

Hi Susi

Thank you for responding to my query the area does look nice but it is the distance that is bothering me, and I have been informed that the roads to Carbrera are not the best.  However, I would be interested in taking a look at your villa if you would send me details/link that would be great. We have been to Bedar on a couple of occasions and toured around that area so we do know a little bit more about it.  If you wish to quote that would also be great, out dates are 12th April to 1st June 2019.

Kind regards

Vera

Hi Vera

Many thanks for getting back to me. At present the villa is undergoing a full reform. That is now almost complete and we are welcoming our next  guests in early September. We will be having photos taken in early September so, if it's okay with you,  I will send them to you then, along with our price list for next year.

Best wishes

Sue

I love Cabrera. The views are second to none. I already own a house in Spain but have been considering buying a smaller place and Cabrera would be my number one choice (I have teenage children).

However, it is quiet. There are two restaurants, a cafe/bar and tennis court which you may have access to via a rental (I don't know the rules). But yes you will have to go about 10 minutes by car to Turre for food and supplies, and obviously about 20 minutes to the beach. If you are looking for more of a buzz and a range of activities then closer to the beach may be for you.

The roads are fine, though as it's up a mountain quite twisty if car sickness is an issue.

We have been coming here to Cabrera for over 20 years and we keep coming back again & again and you really cant beat the views and tranquillity of this place, the sun sets over the mountains are really something special. If its a relaxing chilled out romantic setting your after than look no further. It is an amazing place, no day is the same, its an 11 min drive for provisions to Turre but its so worth it to make the most of your stay. If you would like a bit more of a busy day then a visit to Mojarca is a must particularly during the mid morning when the cafe in the commercial centre is buzzing up till 2pm when all the shops close.

Hi Vera

I drove to cabrera mountains to have a look, the road is very dodgy up the winding road which goes on and on for ages you’re on the edge of a cliff.

Depending on your driving skills I’d think twice about it. I literally gave up when I’d nearly reached the top it was too steep and dodgy and I came back down.

I was relieved once at the bottom.

Up to you but my partner doesn’t drive so was all down to me and it was really frightening. Its a long drive up and down to go to other places, not as quick as some people are mentioning. I certainly won’t be going back up there.

Please don’t be put off but I think you need to look into it a bit more especially with little ones.

Hope this helps

Gill
