Good Morning,

So pleased I found this forum. Thank you for allowing me to join.

We will be completing on a property in Sierra Cabrera, this September. We are so excited!

I did try and search the forum for an answer, but it seems to be a while since anyone asked for the area. Apologies if I missed it. Does Sierra Cabrera have fibre optic internet and if so, what provider does everyone use? We will need it for security, so would like a well established network. (one that doesn't dropout).

Also, we will be looking for someone local, to install a couple of security cameras, that are wired to the mains. If anyone has any recommendations for that also, it will be much appreciated. :-) Thank you.

Lynn, do you have this sorted?

We bought in August and I can give you some insight if you still need it.

Hi

Depends where you are buying in Cabrera. Fiber optics have recently been installed but only reach up to Arch Bar. For that you need to talk to Moviestar. We are higher and so fiber optics dont reach us. We have used Next Communications. We have an annex attached to house and so put in an extra modum at a cost of 30 euro plus cable and have 15 MB speed and have no problem at all. We have worked from the house with both of us on video calls and the kids on their tablets. Next hasnt been bad re customer service. That said, they dont have TV option and our agent who is British told us she is with Albox online for TV.

Hope you are happy there. Let us know where you are buying.

Regards

Lesley

Hi Lesley,

Thanks for replying.

We're about a 7 minute walk to the arch bar. (if looking at the arch with the bar on the left), we're to the right of it . So will take a look at Moviestar, thank you.

We plan to put in a mesh network for the lower terraces and pool area. Albox online is €25 a month (plus tax) for 20mb. This includes free English TV so I'll go and compare that with Movistar and Next.

Thanks again :-)

Lynn

If Movistar have lines in, then you will be covered by DigiMobil (who are carried by Movistar) but are a fraction of the price, have a dedicated English helpline and much much much better customer service.

Digi offer 1 GB/s for 30€.  I use Digi both at home and in my shop and it is a true 1000 Mbps, averaged between the two places I get 940 Mbps down and 850 Mbps up. My home is in Vera Playa, my shop is in Vera.   Superb service, very very quick install.  I’d recommend Digi to anyone looking for good internet and has Fibre available (added benefit is you can take one of their superb mobile plans at low cost if you want, but not obligatory)

Movistar will try and bundle a whole lot together and make it nigh on impossible to take just internet, they then Chuck what seems a reasonable price for this bundle at you, but aren’t very forthcoming about the fact that it’s an “introductory” price for the first three months and goes up thereafter.

With Digi, what you see is what you get - nothing hidden.  The price you see us the price you pay.  At home, I have 1 GB/s Fibre and two mobiles that each have unlimited National calls and 12 GB data that rolls over each month (to a maximum of 24 GB) I pay 42€ for that.

Alas, they don't reach us yet. But I'll remember that for the future. Thank you.

Hi Lesley,

Alas, they don't reach us.

How was you internet after Tuesday mornings storm? We lost ours until it started to clear. I'm thinking of going down a 4G wifi route.

If the kids come out, they'll want to do (well need to do) Uni work and my husband has a conference call next Wednesday, so could do with it sorted. We have Albox-online until the 30th.

Hi everyone! We’ve just joined this site & forum (March 2022) and we are very serious about buying a property in Sierra Cabrera to use as a holiday home and also to rent out as a holiday home. Please may we ask if anyone on here has done this and how you’ve found/are finding it?
