Hi, we are looking to come out during the summer to have a look round etc with a view to purchase.  Could you possibly advise amenities in and around the local area, promenades/walks etc.

The new urbanizations seem to 'tick' our boxes and would just like a heads up as it were to know what to expect.

Whilst we don't particularly want anywhere 'all singing all dancing' type thing, we would like walks, cafes that type of thing and not too quiet should we choose to visit during the winter months.

Many thanks for reading the post and hopefully look forward to hearing back.

Hi

We have just bought in SJLT in Norivel ( near Annie’s bar}. It is about 20 mins walk to the seafront where there is a beautiful promenade, golden sand with cherungitas and restaurants/ cafes nearby. We were told that SJLT was dead in winter so we waited until December to check it out. We still have found places open and enjoyed everyone we have tried so far and still more that are open but haven’t been to yet. You can walk along the cliff to Águilas and the mountains are behind so I’m sure there is a lot more to explore as early days for us. There is a community centre with various activities available and also a sports ground that offers ‘Walk football’ and ‘paddle tennis’. The market is on every Sunday although not as big as Villericous is lively with people enjoying the sunshine having coffee etc. There is a butcher and bread shop open weekends in winter and more frequent in the summer.  There is a Spar supermarket open daily and two big stores selling everything for daily needs, there is also a garden centre. I’m told in the summer there is a big fiesta in June on the beach and live music most evenings. The Calypso hotel hosts some events and recently had horses and Flamenco dancers giving a display on the beach. There are some lovely little coves towards Águilas and Villericous. There is a bus (Alba) that runs daily although not so frequently and you can get a train from Águilas (10 mins drive or a village nearby  (5 mins drive) to Pulpi and Murcia. SJLT has a castle and an attraction  with a famous fossil stone but can’t remember name at moment... sorry as I said we are in early days but have no regrets and love the tranquility and bright blue skies and walking. We are both active but found Mojacar too big and spread out. Good luck and if you need any other info then happy to find out.
