Morning all

Applying for the TIE, which now looks as though it will be held up for a while, we've been accepted, though awaiting the visit to almeria, fingerprints etc.

My question is: what is the procedure for getting a spanish driving licence, cost, time, etc etc and can this be alongside the British one to use for visits back home?

Thanking you in advance. Namu

If you’ve been accepted for TIE you can start the process for exchanging your Uk driving license. This needs to be done by 30/12/20. You will not have two, as you’re exchanging it.
your new Spanish license is fine to use in the Uk. Cost depends who you are using, but the little medical and reaction test is about €40?

Thank you very helpful, so I gather there is a separate cost for the actual licence?

Thank you

Hi sorry to tag onto this.

When you say you have been accepted is that something you found out before having to go to Almería? Our Gestor has put all our paperwork in for us and she says we shouldn't worry and that she's Che king the system everyday for our appointment but I was under the impression we had to wait till after the appointment to sort driving license out but could we potentially hear something before the appointment? We are both on Irish passports and our Gestor said process was slightly different but we still have to attend Almeria.

TIA Anna

On Irish passports, the process is much simpler, as you are applying for Residencia as EU citizens.  You’ll likely be given your green Residencia cards on the day you go down.  There will be no need for photos / fingerprints for you.
