I have just visited San Juan de los Terreros (April) with a view to buying a property for holiday home and rental. I have seen and love the colourful townhouses close to the beach. Does anyone have any opinions regarding these properties? Are they used mainly for holiday homes/ rentals/permanent residencies/ owned by a mixture of Spanish/expats? Any opinions welcomed.

They are very pretty.  Mixture of owners.  Some have been extended and appear to come close to neighbours boundaries or block views.  Would look very carefully at which one you buy.  Some have Spanish families who spend lots of time outside now weather is warmer.  Beware if neighbours have barking dogs.  This advice applies wherever you buy.  They are in a lovely position. Parking looks quite tight but depends on the row.  Just my opinion.  We spend a lot of time thinking about buying one.  Lovely as holiday rental.

Speaking from experience, do not put a deposit down on anything dated if they say its a rolling date. Its absolutely not!

Hi, we bought a property in this community last year as a holiday home. The houses are solidly built and good for a lock up and leave. They are good value for such a great location near the beach, shops and restaurants.  It is significantly busier and noisier in July & August (obviously) but quite peaceful out of peak season and many homes are not permanently occupied. Neighbours are mostly Spanish but a few British people. Barking dogs (as someone mentioned) can be a pain but I guess that can happen anywhere! Parking has not been an issue at all for us and plenty of space within a stone's throw if not exactly outside of your own property. Hope this helps.

I have owned one of these properties since 2018 & am very happy here. The houses make great lock up & leaves. They are very secure & I don't worry about it when I'm not here. The location is great. Easy to walk to the beach & restaurants.  It's always quiet, even in July. We have spanish neighbours on one side who live here permanently & the house on the other side of us is a rental, although currently it is up for sale. I would say that most of the time we come there is no one in the rental. So if you were relying on a rental income you may wish to check that out as a lot of the year Terreros is quiet. I get the impression most of these houses are owned by the Spanish & they use them as weekend/holiday homes. There are not really many English people here, but that is definitely increasing since we started coming.

Parking is never a problem. There is plenty & we are always able to park near our house. Usually right outside.

We bought one of the townhouses in 2019 and it’s the best thing we have ever done. We did think about rental but found we just wanted it for ourselves! We have the communal pool in the shared gardens so ours is better for not having to walks around to one of the pools. A lot are rentals around us but we also have a number of Spanish neighbours who come down and stay for thre summer months. The houses are solid but there is a lot of extension work being done so yes check out of there are any plans that might instruct your sun. Fab place to be - we go along the coast a lot so it’s great for visiting other places too. Highly recommend.
