Hi could anyone tell us the where abouts of the nearest GP surgery in SJDLT please. We have seen a small white building with a Red Cross opposite Meson Pepa, are we assuming that is the place? Do they speak English & how & when do we register? We hold an N11 card at present & assuming that will be sufficient until we come to live in SJDLT permanently (jan-march 2019 ) & require private health care. If anyone could give us up to date information on health care costs(we already have a cost in place but remain open to other recommendations) it would be much appreciated thanks guys any help is much appreciated

Mrs B, your European Health Card only covers emergencies. You do not register with a doctor in the Medical Centre until you are in receipt of an S1 form from the UK, usually pension age.

You will need private health cover and then use a doctor on the list given to you by the provider.

The Medical Centre is in the car park at the rear of Meson Pepa. If you have an emergency and need to go to either the Medical Centre or the hospital you will need the card and your passport.

Or you can also go to Pulpi center, near the marketplace. There is the public, local small healthcare center.

Or at the first roundabout when entering Pulpi coming from SJ there is on the right a brandnew center 'Vitaluna' that is privetly held but accepts health insurance such as DKV, etc...

Hi,

I am sure I have heard & read of those not yet signed on with a GP but processing being able to sign on for a limited period.

May I suggest you,

a) Contact DWP Newcastle upon Tyne & enquire, and

b,) take yourself EHIC & Passport PLUS interpreter (very important) to local Healthcentre & enquire formally.

May be a waste of.your time & 10€/hr for interpreter but nothing ventured.

Private healthcare here can be difficult logistically.

Best Wishes,

Bob and Sandra

Believe you have spoken to Karen.
