HI

Has anyone yet paid tax on their personal possessions (post brexit) that have been shipped over by a removal company?

I’m not talking about new items or bits of furniture, more clothes, pictures, the every day stuff that we need around us.

It seems a bit of a mine field and I can’t understand how a tax can we calculated on this type of possession or whether it’s actually exempt

Any experiences welcome

Thanks

no import taxes on any personal goods imported to a place of residence if owned for more than 6 months prior to move.

just had a quote to bring some items over from a reputable company who bought over my last lot of stuff, and he said ,to quote, that right now, just the paperwork alone ,to bring over even a few items of personal furniture, second hand, cherished stuff of mine that is sitting in a garage in the uk, would be 400 pounds before he would quote on the price for transport, good old brexit

From working at a UK - Spain removals companies we have found since Brexit spanish customs charging duty tax between 2-10% and vat at 21% on value if  all items sent from a non EU country ( UK ) to a EU country ( Spain ) this applies both to Spanish nationals and UK nationals and both to commercial and private shipments .

Hi

Alicia is correct. I’ve just had mine delivered. You sign a declaration to say all items are over 6 months old. We paid no import tax, price quoted in November is the price we paid in January. Just remember no food, plants or soil

But not for personal secondhand furniture and personal items owned for longer than 6 months prior to deli

Sorry to disagree....but we are waiting....5 weeks now....for some stuff we sent out from the UK when we went back at Christmas....4 boxes in total, and have just heard they want almost 130 euros for 2 of the boxes....One box is belly dance clothes that I have owned for about 10 years!
