Can a resident bring personal goods in their car ..clothes pots and pans TV etc when  returning to spain from UK without paying duty

the rules are that if you have owned it for 6 months it should be free but that has been disputed by Brits who have been charged for everything they have brought in.   i suppose it will depend on how much you try to bring in and whether the customs stop you and search your car.  anything brand new will carry an import duty charge.

Thank you...that's the ruling I thought was in place...it seems it depends on the person that stops you and believing that your stuff is 6 months old if you haven't got receipts

The law is if You are a Spanish National, returning from the UK, and have a Consular Baja, A Padron and a DNI, you will be able to claim tax exemption at the Spanish Customs (but still have to pay UK and Spanish Customs clearance charges) all other Nationals, even Spanish without the Baja and Padron, will have to pay VAT on their goods when importing into Spain. The Baja and Padron, are the only Two documents that Spanish Customs will consider as your goods being a Move and Not a Direct Import
