Oh no, what a dreadful start to your holiday. 😣 Everyone in Terreros is so helpful, I'm sure someone will come to your rescue...It is so inconvenient with no transport links to the village though but I agree hire cars are extortionate this year. May I ask how you travelled to SJLT from the air...

Yes of course. We booked a coach transfer with www.exclusiveairportshuttles.co.uk

This takes you as far as Consum supermarket at Vera Playa, then a pre-booked taxi into SJDLT. That’s if you’re coming from Almeria. But a similar system for the other two airports.

It was an excellent service and one we’d use again. They held the coach back until we (and another couple) had completed the paperwork at the airport for our luggage.

They also arrange the taxi transfer. You complete the form online to book which is already populated with the flights into Almeria, Murcia and Alicante.

I know at the moment car hire is virtually impossible from Vera, Mojacar etc. Just a thought if you are stuck can you get the exclusive shuttle bus back from Consum like you did coming? I know they meet all the flights from Almeria airport so you maybe able to get one at a time that suits.

Good luck and hope you get it soon.

Hello

Our luggage wasn't sent on the flight from Manchester yesterday. We have to return to Almeria Airport to collect it in person, so we need to hire a car either pick up today 3rd August, or in the morning of 4th August.

Struggling to find a car hire place where we can pick up the car near to SJDLT and return to same, possibly keeping the car for 3 days or maybe one week if that works out a better deal. Would appreciate any advice.

Thank you.

You may have already sorted this out, but I have had the same experience twice  in the last two weeks flying to and from Helsinki to Manchester, each time with a different airline.  My experience is that if you push the airline, they are under an obligation to bring the case to you.  Their system is pretty jammed full at the moment but if you can wait a day or two it may be worth it.  It took five days to get to me in Helsinki and two days after I arrived back in Manchester

Hello, hopefully you will have resolved your problem by now but if not, why not ask Exclusive if you can use their shuttle service to return to Almeria where you can collect either your luggage or, luggage and hire car.

Just a thought....

May I ask which airline you flew with? I've had my luggage left behind on several occasions, but the airline has always delivered it to my door when it finally arrived.  It seems very unreasonable to have to hire a car and pick it up yourself!  I hope it all worked out for you.

Should the airline not have a responsibility to deliver it by courier to your forwarding address if you left details at the lost luggage desk ?  Some years ago , Iberia done this for us in Malaga once maybe twice after travelling on connecting flight via Madrid . But perhaps the budget airlines can somehow avoid this obligation ?

Hi, yes that would have been our next option, but we managed to get a cancelled car hire reservation, so all sorted now, thank you.

Hi, thank you. Yes we've now collected it ourselves, but it took up a lot of time to sort out a hire car, which is really annoying. Sorry you've had the same bad experience twice!

You would think so... never had it happen before. We were told very forcefully at the airport that we had to come back for it, no other option, But am now thinking they should have offered delivery.
