Hi. We have never visited this part of Spain before and have booked 2 weeks at the end of September. Will the weather still be warm and also does anyone know anything about the hotel we have booked - Bahia Serena in a Roquetas de Mar. Many thank

Hi Chrissy, Weather is generally warm and sunny at that time of year, but there is always a chance of wind, blowing up at any time . Find a south facing spot out of the wind and you will still get a tan.

Never stayed in that hotel, so cannot comment on it.

Hope you have a good time.

Maureen.

Hi Chrissy, in my experience September is by far the best time to visit Roquetas. It’s a lot quieter, you’re able to park better and the weather is just perfect, not that stinging heat but bearable. We usually tend to go out there for the whole of September :)

We actually stayed in the Bahia Serena for 3 nights when we went over to spain to get the keys to our new apartment, to be completely honest with you it’s very dated and needs a good make over, but if you’re going to be out most of the time then it’s okay. We have great sea views which was a bonus though. Hope you love Roquetas as much as we do :)

Hi

Many thanks for replying.  Oh well we have booked for 2weeks so we will make the best of it. Hopefully we will get a sea view as well. We went for the self catering option as we will be eating out probably most nights.  Ideally would have liked a private rental but as we have never been to that part of Spain before we couldn't tell if we were renting in the right area. we are hoping this is the right area for us as we are looking for somewhere to rent long term to get away from the British winters.

Thanks again for the info x

That’s okay Chrissy as you say you will be eating out most of the time, I highly recommend a restaurant called Brasserie Panini at the other end of Roquetas http://www.brasseriepanini.es/show.asp the food it just amazing.

We used to rent an apartment with a private plunge pool from a chap called Donal, in the Pelicanos Golf & Beach II. We loved the block so much we brought one a year later :) it’s a great part of town as it’s quiet away from the bars etc but still within walking distance, he does long term rentals. If you’re interested I’ll send you his details.

Enjoy your hols :)

Hi

Thank you for the restaurant recommendation we will be sure to give it a try.

Actually I think I came across that very apartment but I couldn’t work out how far away it was from everything but again we will check it out while we are there.  It’s the main purpose of our visit to see if we like the area and look for a place to rent for the winter. Do you ever visit Jan/Feb/March ? I wondered how the weather was but I don’t suppose it will ever be as cold as it is here in the winter

Thanks again for your information- it’s very kind of you

Yes it’s in a lovely location not far from the Bahia Serna.

Yes we’ve been out there in our winter and it’s very dead, not many places open, it’s a bit of a ghost town as it’s very tourist, it’s a well known town for the spanish to take their holidays hence why we love it (not many brits). The main bars tend to open at weekends only. The weather again, not great evenings still get cold, we’ve just got back from a weekend over there and it’s just starting to warm up now, as soon as the sun goes in it can still be a bit chilly, the proper summer kicks in mid May id say and that’s when everything tends to open for the season and gets a bit more lively. Early May this year was very windy, and when it rained/thunderd boy did you know it! But still cosy and as you say better than England.

You’re welcome happy to help x
